Genesys Health System is one of the Michigan's largest health care services provider, with over 2,000 employees, a large medical center, and a network of owned or affiliated facilities throughout the region. Additionally, Genesys is affiliated with Ascension Health, the largest not–for–profit health system in the United States. With such a large and geographically distributed organization, Genesys needed an efficient, simple solution to automate its hundreds of data access and integration procedures.
The Challenges
Automate Hundreds of Internal Processes
Genesys is continually engaged in organization-wide initiatives designed to improve the quality and usefulness of its data, including a multitude of reports essential to both administrative and clinical operations. In support of these ongoing efforts, Genesys' IS staff is challenged with automating hundreds of its internal customers' processes that demand integration, cleansing, analysis and delivery of information.
Integrate Data from Disparate Systems
The Genesys computing environment is based on IBM’s AS/400 hardware and software architecture and includes best–in–class third party Database Management Services, payroll and reporting applications. However, Genesys still had to access, transform and integrate data from multiple sources across its network of facilities. The organization then needed to deliver that disparate information to reporting applications, spreadsheets and other internal destinations.

Recognizing the need for an efficient, simple and complete end–to–end data integration solution, Genesys' IS staff retained a consultant. A thorough search lead to Group 1's Data Flow™, a data processing engine that easily extends the accessibility and usefulness of corporate data. In addition to complex data manipulation tasks, Data Flow™ features a unique visual diagramming workbench that allows users to design data flow plans that create data warehouses, perform business analyses and deploy content to users and applications over the Web.
