Newest Value-Added Reseller of Group 1's GeoTAX Software Extends Group 1's Global Alliance Program

Lanham, MD, July 12, 2005 — Group 1 Software, Inc., a Pitney Bowes company (NYSE: PBI), today announced that Taxware, a leading provider of global transaction tax calculation and compliance solutions and a First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC) company, has joined the Group 1 Global Alliance Program as a value-added reseller. Group 1 develops software that helps provide integrated Customer Communication Management (CCM) solutions. Taxware will integrate and resell GeoTAX^®, Group 1's tax jurisdiction assignment software, with Taxware's line of sales and use tax compliance products. The resulting solution will provide businesses with enhanced geocoding accuracy nationwide.

To calculate the exact tax liability in the more than 20,000 jurisdictions across the United States, most companies today use the five- or nine-digit zip code for geographic accuracy. This method falls short in a number of states, where multiple jurisdictions overlap and the jurisdiction boundaries are complex and dynamic. Companies, therefore, must decide in advance whether to pay the higher or lower tax rate, which results in either over-remittance or audit exposure.

With Group 1's GeoTAX^® offering integrated into Taxware's Taxware Enterprise and TaxSolver products, the result is the industry's first line of transaction tax solutions with address-level accuracy for assigning geocodes. For customers, the uncertainties that sometimes arise in transaction tax calculation will be removed.
