Group 1 Software Adds Advanced Data Profiling Functionality to Its Data Quality Software Solutions
Group 1 Adds Key Technology To Its Industry-Leading Software Portfolio
Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software, a Pitney Bowes company, today announced that it has acquired an unrestricted source code license for the data profiling technology of AMB Dataminers of Chicago, Ill. This technology provides a highly advanced solution for understanding the structure, content, and quality of corporate data. Group 1 will offer this sophisticated technology as part of its data quality suite of solutions, providing its customers an unmatched level of effectiveness and value.
With the globalization and automation of business processes, data quality has become a critical issue. Today, most corporations rely on multiple automated systems to provide critical information, manage transactions, and deliver many other critical business functions. Because of this, the quality of the underlying data has a major impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of these organizations.
Before data quality can be achieved effectively, however, the source data must be inspected and prepared. The data profiling software acquired by Group 1 provides complete insight into existing data sources through a combination of automated discovery and interactive analysis. This functionality allows organizations to automate the error analysis and data definition that must take place during data preparation. By using this technology, Group 1's customers can eliminate the extensive manual processes normally required for this step, and can rapidly and accurately implement the data quality solutions that they require for their CRM, ERP, data warehouse, or other critical IT initiatives. “We are very excited to be providing the data profiling technology that will be offered to Group 1's customer base of over 3,500 leading organizations,” said Steve Meister, CEO of AMB Dataminers. “The powerful combination of technology from AMB and Group 1 provides businesses a best-of-breed approach for data profiling and data quality.”
“By embedding this leading data profiling technology into our products, Group 1 can provide its customers with valuable insight into their corporate data in a timely manner,” said Bob Bowen, President of Group 1 Software. “With detailed knowledge of the data in source systems prior to implementing enterprise data quality solutions, companies can increase the likelihood of success of these strategic initiatives.”
