Group 1 Enhances Industry-Leading DOC1 Product Suite For Real-time Web and E-mail Delivery of Customized Marketing Messages
Personalized Documents Essential for Building Brand Equity and Strengthening Customer Relationships
Lanham, MD — To meet the demand for both printed and Web-delivered personalized business documents, Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced significant enhancements to its industry-leading DOC1 document composition suite. Customers that have been utilizing these innovative products for targeted, printed customer communications can now benefit from DOC1's robust functionality for real-time, Web-based electronic composition and delivery applications.
DOC1 is the fastest way to produce personalized business documents for both print and on-line delivery. DOC1 is an easy-to-use, interactive development environment that facilitates the production of attractive, easy-to-read personalized statements, bills and letters. To address the tremendous global growth and acceptance of Electronic Bill Presentation and Payment (EBPP) and Electronic Statement Presentation (ESP), DOC1 now generates dynamic HTML and XML, and its PDF supports bookmarks and embedded URL links.
Companies that have always relied on DOC1 for composition of traditional print-based applications can now easily compose content-rich, customer-focused business documents for e-commerce, web-enabled CRM, and EBPP/ESP applications. For example, a single DOC1 application using common data, content, and business rules can compose documents that can be viewed in a Web browser, distributed by email, and delivered via high-speed printer. "Personalized communications are strategic selling tools and play an invaluable role in helping businesses strengthen the customer relationship," said Andrew Warzecha, vice president, Meta Group. "Businesses will find tremendous value in being able to utilize the same application to print customized business documents and deliver them effortlessly via the Web."
"The enhancements to the DOC1 product suite will allow Hewitt Associates to automate and simplify our document production processes," said Matt Umhoefer, systems analyst at Hewitt Associates, a longtime DOC1 user. "Thereby, we will be able to increase our productivity and accuracy in developing and delivering dynamic customer documents."
"We are excited about being able to offer our customers the ability to generate dynamic documents for real-time and print delivery," said Alan Slater, general manager of Group 1's DOC1 division. "By enhancing DOC1's electronic presentment and delivery options, users now have unprecedented power and flexibility to deploy highly personalized content utilizing a customer's preferred medium and delivery channel."
Group 1 has also enhanced DOC1 for Workgroups, which allows multiple users to create and share resources, such as text, logos and other images, while managing dynamic document applications as they move from development to production. The product enhancements include content management down to the object level, further reducing production time for companies using DOC1 for print applications. Developers can share document objects across the enterprise and facilitate collaborative development. DOC1 for Workgroups now also includes version control with "check-in/check-out" security.
The DOC1 system allows dynamic document applications to be developed in a WYSIWYG environment on a Windows NT workstation. Currently, over 400 customers worldwide rely on DOC1 to generate millions of customer-focused business documents every day. The DOC1 production engine can run under MVS, Windows NT, Windows 2000, UNIX (Sun Solaris, HP/UX and AIX, DEC UNIX), Open VMS, OS/400 or PC DOS. DOC1 generates XML, PDF, and HTML for Web presentment as well as AFP, HP/PCL, Postscript, Metacode, and line data for high-speed production printing. For product demonstrations of DOC1 4.0 and DOC1 for Workgroups, visit Group 1's booth (#707) at Xplor 2000 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida from October 31 through November 2. At Xplor, ask a Group 1 representative to see DOC1 and DOC1 for Workgroups in a real-world office environment in the DOC1 technology suite.
